Small worry doll box measures 1.5" H x 1.75" W and large worry doll box measures 2.5" H x 2" W.

Guatemalan worry dolls, or muñecas quitapenas, have served as icons of comfort among troubled children for generations.  According to a local legend about the origin of the worry doll, a Mayan princess named Ixmucane received a special gift from the sun god that allowed her to resolve any human worry.  Created from recycled bits of foot loom fabric and sticks, clad in traditional Mayan costumes, and safely stored in a box, these miniature dolls are given to moping or sorrowful children.  At bedtime, after confessing anxieties and fears to the dolls, the child places them beneath his/her pillow for the duration of the night.  In the morning, the dolls are enclosed back in their box, where the worries are sealed and forever disappear.
