This St. Frank phulkari embroidery is a traditional Punjabi textile. The word phulkari translates literally into "flower working." Larger pieces made in this technique, designed for special occasions like weddings and births, are called bagh, or "garden." Traditionally, Punjabi women stitched motifs that revealed their emotions and reflected everyday activities. Phulkari is commonly produced on a red cloth, a color considered auspicious in Hinduism. The thread colors chosen for this piece are also symbolic: white represents purity, orange embodies divine energy, and pink signifies passion.

This embroidered textile is finished with our flax linen backing and closed by an invisible zipper with a gold pull. Our signature St. Frank plate is featured in the bottom right-hand corner of the pillow. The cushion is stuffed with an oversized down insert. The pillow dimensions are 18" W x 18" H.

Please note that as unique, handmade art, no two pillows are ever exactly the same and color varies across monitors. Our website photos are a close representation of this pillow, but may not be identical to the one you receive.
